It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pauline Wild.

Pauline was the founder of our gymnastics club at Skelmersdale Sports Centre. When the centre closed for refurbishment, the club moved to Cross Hall School and later to Edge Hill University.

She was instrumental in persuading the Down’s Syndrome Association to provide funding for me to establish the gymnastics club at Edge Hill. The parents then came together and chose the name SPARTAC, meaning:

Pauline was also a driving force in the early days of Active Therapy. Her daughter, Jolene, was one of my early protégées, and I worked closely with her until Pauline and her family moved to Brighton.

Pauline played an important part in the beginnings of both Active Therapy and SPARTAC. Her encouragement, determination and commitment helped to create a lasting legacy that continues today.

She will always be remembered with great gratitude and affection.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this very sad time.
